Well. I like Washu. But you already knew that, right? Her cute sheer evilness charms me immensely. She's the most brilliant mad scientist in the Universe, and has been for at least 20,000 years (though I suppose that depends on which version of the story you're referring to). Her average invention is capable of wreaking mass destruction, but that's okay. We know she's having immense amounts of fun in the process.
And Washu's cuteness, yikes. Despite her age, she insists on being called Washu-chan. And she insists in such a quaint childish manner that it would be difficult to resist her wishes.
Her ego is immense, and as a ham she loves pushing everyone into boosting it. If you want a favour from Washu-chan, tell her in as many ways as you can that she's the one who can do it because she is so remarkably brilliant. Nothing is beyond her capabilities. And don't forget to call her -chan while you are pleading and flattering! (Note that none of this flattery is the last bit dishonest or inaccurate anyway.)
I have a lot of Washu to add, like the background cels that are &%^&^$%^& giving me fits.
Episode #: OAV 12: Zero Ryoko
Stats: 3 layers, stuck, A1/B5/C3 (all) KEY END Sketches: none Background: Matching, unstuck Foreground: Matching, unstuck Comments: Washu and one of her fake decoy Washu. Washu is saying "We'll see about that." in response to Dr. Clay claiming that she hadn't taken Zero into account. The decoy Washu was originally trapped in the green gel (I don't know what it is) by Dr. Clay when he mistook it for the real Washu. The real Washu was partially trapped after being distracted by Zero Ryoko. You wouldn't expect anything to be an actual problem for Washu, though, would you? This is a book cel, but the foreground belongs behind the cels and should be slid down further. Hopefully I'll eventually scan everything lined up correctly. For the heck of it I'll show you a scan with the foreground in front, mainly so you can distinguish it from the background. Hey, I was bored. Foreground in Front |
Episode #: Tenchi Universe:
Stats: 1 layer, A1 KEY Sketches: none Comments: Washu-chan flashes back on when her poor innocent youthful self was sentenced for her "crimes". She protests... (oops, need to check the exact crimes again, I find myself stumped after the Ozone Destroyer.) This is right when she's being sucked away after the sentencing. I'll figure out the episode number while I'm refreshing my memory about the crimes. |
Episode #: OAV 13: Here Comes Jurai
Stats: 1 layer, A60(?) Sketches: none Comments: This might be SPOILER territory! Washu is telling Lady (dono) Funaho that she doesn't care about Jurai's circumstances, while they discuss the mass-reproductive capabilities of Ryo-Ohki during the final regular episode of the OAV series. The only other thing in this image on-screen would be a background of the grey stairs that Washu and Funaho are descending. |
Episode #: Tenchi Universe:
Stats: 1 layer, A2 Sketches: none Comments: Washu, looking smug while her cheerleading dolls proclaim her immense greatness. I can't look at this thing without "Washu's great!" (etc) running through my head. Very, very, cute. |
Episode #: Shin Tenchi Muyo/Tenchi in Tokyo 15: Love Match
Stats: 1 layer, A12 Sketches: none Comments: Washu, being a mad scientist, sometimes gets on the wrong explosive end of her own experiments. In this particular instance, Tenchi telephoned to ask her to close down the dimension hole right when she needed to delicately mix chemicals (or at least some couple of somethings in two viles, you never know what things might be with Washu). This was my first Washu cel, as well as one of my first two Tenchi cels (see the Sasami & Ryoohki section for the other). |

Episode #: Shin Tenchi Muyo/Tenchi in Tokyo: (need to get ep #)
Stats: 1 layer, A6 Sketches: none Comments: Washu in her pirate glasses, sporting some of the most dangerous looking hair I've seen. |
Episode #: (Shin Tenchi Muyo/Tenchi in Tokyo)
Stats: 1 layer, B3 Sketches: 1 non-matching, stuck Comments: A slightly off-center Washu close-up... I can't recall when exactly this happens, but it's toward the end of the series. Tenchi is learning the truth about his girlfriend, hence Washu's sad and worried expression. Personally, I was a lot more sad about Ryoko's plight in this little alternate reality... but it's a rare change of pace to see the immensely arrogant Washu looking so somber. |
