Mazoku, Weirdos, & What-not Cels

Series: Slayers

Presently this is the section for any solo characters who don't yet have better categories. Which means that, yes, I'll be lumping Mazoku, Gods, and humans together. Eek! Ah well, I'm sure this situation will be rectified shortly. At least the Mazoku will split off on their own. Maybe. If I can figure out how to get around the spoiler trouble of IDing certain characters as Mazoku.

Up next: Some Mazoku, plus Ashford the Chef.

Episode #: Next 15: A Big Crash? The Battle at Artemay Tower!
Stats: 1 layer, A20
Sketches: 1 matching, unstuck, + 1 layout sketch
Background: Matching, unstuck
Comments: Joe & Ann of Artemay Tower. I love these two, possibly because it's such a fun episode and that made them stand out all the more. This, I believe, is when Joe is inviting all of the doll-clad regulars to survive his games for a chance at the Claire Bible manuscript, but I'll hopefully check soon.

Episode #: Next 20: We must go! Aim for the Valley of Dragons!
Stats: 1 layer, A1 KEY
Sketches: 1 matching, unstuck
Background: Matching colour copy, unstuck
Comments: Phibrizzo! This poor cute kid (heh) had the "misfortune" of trying to steal from Lina. Little did he know how much of a monster she could be. Little did she know... I actually sympathise with Phibrizzo quite a bit, though I likely shouldn't, because it seems to me that he was only doing what he thought he was supposed to be doing. And, in the end, he was punished for it. I thought it was cute how they wrote his name out on the sketch, so I'm including a scan.

Episode #: Try 8: Be careful! The Plan Has Begun!
Stats: 4 layers, stuck, A1 KEY END/B1 KEY/C1 KEY/C2
Sketches: 1 matching (A1), unstuck
Comments: Alumace (or Arumeisu or Almayce), one of the sub-gods of another world and one of the initial antagonists in Slayers Try. SPOILERS! When Alumace agrees to summon Dark Star in another world if the Gold Dragons will hand the Hikari no Ken over to him, the crew decides they won't settle for allowing another world to be destroyed so their's will be safe. Xellos' presence is enough to keep the Gold Dragons from attacking them, but while he's occupied with Valgaav the others need to handle Alumace. Regular magic won't work, so Lina uses Ragna Blade against him. This is when he's fending the Blade off, a split second before it gets through and cracks his armour.

Episode #: Next 12: The Unexpected End! The Shocking Truth and Next 13: Impending Fall! The Moment of Ambition's Defeat! (recap)
Stats: 1 layer, A2
Sketches: 1 matching, unstuck
Comments: Lord Alfred. SPOILER! This is just as he's admitting to his little plot for taking power in Seiruun. Here he's turning with this smug evil little sneer, saying he probably would have gotten away with it if they (Lina & Co.) hadn't appeared. To tell the truth, I always thought it was Alfred. Sadly, though, it was because I figured the lone royal Seiruun bishounen would be irked about being everything a Prince is expected to be yet without having the power. It would make sense for him to oust the less fair-looking Prince Phil in his own favour. By the time of the convenient attack on Alfred and the others, I kew without a doubt that it was Alfred... but I wasn't sure if it was for my suspected bishounen reasons. ;) I'm still not sure, for that matter.

Comments: Erebos, one of the sub-Gods of the universe that Lost Universe happens in, only appears late in Slayers Try. I haven't pinpointed this moment yet, though. There was a light blue piece of paper behind this cel when I scanned it. It was there when I bought it, and it matches nicely so I left it.

Episode #: Very late Next, I'll check "soon".
Stats: 1 layer, C26
Sketches: 1 matching, unstuck
Comments: Gosh... Phibrizzo has quite the expression in this cel. I've owned it for most of a decade (if not a decade) and it somehow only now sank in how priceless that face is. Perhaps eventually I'll scan the sketch with all of the notes and arrows that went into such a contortion of derangement and emotion. You may not be able to see it in the scan, but his eyes are even brimming with tears. Looking at a face like this, I feel I should laugh, cry, and scream insanely (all at the same time). And so, perhaps, I shall (nothing new for me, anyway).
