Koganei Vs Shiju Cels

Koganei Vs Shiju is Koganei's first fight as a member of Team Hokage. He was forced in by Fuuko and Domon (only Fuuko in the manga) being detained away from the tournament. Without another member, Hokage would've ultimately lost. Supposedly the purpose for this was to kill Koganei immediately.

As I also have the Mikagami Vs Mokuren section up, I'll mention that that fight is led into by this one. In the ongoing attempt to kill Koganei, an elimination match is declared. He needs to fight until he loses.

Shiju is a member of Uruha Maboroshi, all people who were genetically modified by Genjuro's psychic surgery. Shiju's DNA was spliced with those of a lion, and I can't recall what else off-hand. Uruha Maboroshi was the second team to face the Hokage at the Ura Buto Satsujin.

	Episode #: 25 Stats: 1 layer, A3 KEY Sketches: 1 matching, unstuck Comments: The only Koganei/Kurei flashback that made it into the anime. We never get told that he wears the cloth around his wrist to hide suicide attempt scars. We never get told that this happened after Koganei's family died, or that Kurei prevented him from killing himself. But we do get told that Koganei liked puzzles and was playing with a Rubik's Cube when Kurei told him that if he proved himself he could use the Kougan Anki. "To rebuild this rotten world, let's fight together." Koganei first remembers this moment while giving up in the Shiju fight, after the Kougan Anki has gotten stuck in the Dome's ceiling. Screen Cap
	Episode #: 25 Stats: 1 layer, A2 Sketches: 1 matching, stuck Comments: Koganei transforms Kougan Anki into Kioku when it's in Shiju's mouth (just after retrieving the Anki from the ceiling he transformed it to Ryu, hooked Shiju's paw, and got swung in close by the chain). Owie! After closing Kioku, he begins swinging upward.

Why I love this sequence, beyond that it's a good Shiju one, and a very cute Koganei one, is that it's the (dramatic music please!) exciting moment of "the big recovery" in the fight.

This is right before Koganei finishes his upward swing and ultimately lands on Shiju's back. When I've scanned all of the cels I have from this sequence, I'll make a little animation of them.
	Episode #: 25 Stats: 1 layer, A3 Sketches: 1 matching, unstuck Comments: An adorably fanged cute happy little Koganei. He'd just won the fight against Shiju, and said it was easy because his fighting level doesn't suck like Recca's does. Then he hid behind Yanagi. Out of happiness, out of anoyance over the remark, and because he touched Yanagi again, Recca and Koganei cheerfully beat each other up. Then, here, Recca equally cheerfully hugs/throttles him while he grins happily. Sounds vaguely dysfunctional, doesn't it? ;)
